Alvin Kamara Leaves Camp With Saints In Push For Extension

Aug 31, 2020 4:33 PM

Alvin Kamara is making a late push for a contract extension with the New Orleans Saints.

Kamara has been an unexcused absence from training camp since Friday, which is believed to be contract-related.

Sean Payton has declined to specify the reason for any player absences in recent days, as teams are not required to release injury reports during camp.

Kamara is scheduled to make $2.133 million in the final season of his rookie contract.

By holding out, Kamara could risk losing an accrued season, meaning he would become a restricted free agent after this season instead of unrestricted.

Aug 28, 2020 8:21 AM

The San Francisco 49ers have experienced a rash of injuries at wide receiver, leading them to make a pair of signings.

The team has signed Kevin White and River Cracraft. Both players worked out with the 49ers earlier this week.

White was the seventh overall pick by the Chicago Bears in 2015.

Cracraft, a return specialist, has spent some time with the Denver Broncos.

Ravens Release Earl Thomas, Will Try To Void Contract

Aug 23, 2020 11:39 PM

The Baltimore Ravens have released Earl Thomas two days after an on-field altercation with teammate Chuck Clark.

The Ravens are expected to try to void his $10 million guaranteed salary this season. It is expected the safety will file a grievance.

Thomas was sent home Friday and has not returned to the Ravens' facility since his on-field altercation with Clark. This was the second fiery exchange with a teammate for Thomas, who confronted nose tackle Brandon Williams after a loss to Cleveland 11 months ago.

The Ravens wanted to split from Thomas so badly that they are willing to take a major financial hit and move forward without a proven replacement for him. They will take a $15 million salary-cap hit for releasing him, unless they are able to void his $10 million guaranteed salary.

Dez Bryant departed his tryout with the Baltimore Ravens without a contract.

While the Ravens could sign Bryant in the future, nothing is imminent currently.

Bryant hasn't played in the NFL since December 2017.

The Ravens could have brought in Bryant to keep him on a short list of options if injuries hit the wide receiver position.

Joey Bosa Supports Melvin Ingram Sitting Out Over Contract

Aug 19, 2020 9:05 AM

Melvin Ingram has support from teammate Joey Bosa as he seeks a new contract with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Ingram is amid a hold-in as the Chargers take part in the first padded practices of the year this week.

The new collective bargaining agreement makes holdouts prohibitive, so Ingram is at L.A.'s facility. He's going to meetings, but isn't participating in practices.

"We've talked a little bit, and all I have to say is I'm going to support him," Bosa said. "He's going to make the best decision for him and his family. I have faith in him that he's going to make the right decisions."

Ingram is entering the final year of a four-year, $64 million contract signed in 2017. Bosa received a five-year, $135 million extension earlier this month, which made him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.
